Mabia finishes 8th position in weightlifting 

BIRMINGHAM, (UK), Aug 1, 2022(BSS) - Mabia Aktar, the gold winner in SA Games, could not fulfill the expectation in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games as she ended up finishing eighth place by lifting a total of 181 KGsin the weightlifting event on Monday.

In the snatch, Mabia lifted 74 KGs in her first attempt and 78 KG in her second attempt. She failed in her attempt at 80 KG. In clean and jerk, Mabia lifted 100 KG in her first attempt. In her second attempt, she lifted 103 KG.

Boxer Salim Hossain lost to India's Mohammed Hussam Uddin by 5-0 in the round of 16 matches of Men's Over 54kg- 57kg (Featherweight) category in boxing event.

Salim was at the blue corner while his opponent was at the red corner. Out of five judges, four gave Salim 27 points and one gave him 25 points while Salim got 30 points from each one of them.

In swimmingevent, Sukumar Rajbonashi participated in men's 50m breaststroke. In his heat, Sukumar came sixth out of eight swimmers with a timing of 29.96 seconds. 

Out of 40 swimmers who competed in this event, Sukumar earned 30th place. He took 2.86 seconds more than the top finishers, Michael Houlie and Adam Peaty finished on 27.10 seconds.

In Men's 100M butterfly, Mahamudun Nobi Nahid finished fourth in his heat with a timing of 56.78 seconds. Out of 47 swimmers Nahid finished the event 26th. He took 5.42 seconds more than the topper Joshua Liendo Edwards.
 
On Tuesday, Bangladesh will take part in three events. Swimmer Asif Reza will compete in the men's 50M freestyle, boxer Hossan Ali will compete against Uganda's Owen Issac Kibira in the welterweight category (63.5-67 KG).

In weightlifting, Monira Kazi will take part in the women's 76 KG category.
