Dutch win toss and opt to bat in 2nd ODI against England

AMSTELVEEN, Netherlands, June 19, 2022 (BSS/AFP) - Newly-minted Dutch captain
Scott Edwards won the toss and put his side in to bat against England in a
rain-delayed second one-day international at the VRA cricket ground outside
Amsterdam.

The game will finally get under way at 1.45pm local time after heavy
overnight showers caused wet spots next to the pitch and a wet outfield.

The Dutch are hoping to recover from a record-breaking defeat in Friday's
first ODI against in which world champions England, smashed 498-4 to set the
highest score ever reached in international ODI cricket.

Eoin Morgan's side beat their own mark of 481-6 set against Australia at
Trent Bridge in 2018, in the first match of the three-game series.

Jos Buttler who scored an unbeaten 162 not out, will be hoping to repeat his
batting masterclass performance as the toss got underway at 1.15pm.

England made only one change, putting in right-arm paceman Brydon Carse in
place of Sam Curren, who was back for the first ODI from an injury scare.

The Netherlands made three changes including for regular skipper Pieter
Seelaar, who is out with a back injury and bringing in hard hitting all-
rounder Teja Nidamanuru, paceman Vivian Kingma and slowleft-arm allrounder
Tim Pringle.

The Dutch will need to improve their bowling and fielding performance if they
hope to stand any chance in making a dent in the armour of a rampant England
team.
