CUMILLA, Dec 8, 2022 (BSS) - Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and Md Mujibul Haque, MP, have been reelected the president and general secretary respectively for Cumilla district south unit of Awami League (AL).

AL Presidium Member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim announced the names of the leaderships at the triennial council of the Cumilla district south AL.

Earlier, the council was held in a fanfare manner at Bagmara High School ground at Lalmai upazila in the district while thousands of AL leaders and activists joined the council with much enthusiasm.

AL General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader inaugurated the council virtually while Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim addressed it as the chief guest with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.

Speaking on the occasion, Quader urged the AL leaders and activists to work together to bring Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the state power again.

"The countrymen are ready to resist the anarchy creators," he said, adding that game will be played against vote rigging, looting, militancy and those, who play with the fate of 17 crore people.

AL Joint General Secretary Mahbubul-Alam Hanif addressed the council as the chief speaker while AL Presidium Member Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Bir Bikram, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tazul Islam, AL Organizing Secretary Abu Saeed Al Mahmud Swapan, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Information and Research Affairs Secretary Dr Selim Mahmood, Science and Technology Affairs Secretary Engineer Md Abdus Sabur and lawmakers Abul Hashem Khan and Nasimul Alam Chowdhury Nazrul spoke at the programme as special guests.
