Prof Arefin condoles death of Dr SA Malek

DHAKA, Dec 7, 2022 (BSS) - Dhaka University former Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Awami League Advisory Council member and Bangabandhu Parishad President Dr SA Malek.

In a condolence message, he said, Malek, who was also former political adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former lawmaker from Faridpur-1 constituency, was an encyclopedia of politics of Bangladesh.

Malek knew ins and outs of the politics of Bangladesh very well and his speeches in different discussions and rallies were media of knowing the country's politics.

Prof Arefin, also chairman of the board of directors of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), said Malek's death created a vacuum in the political arena of the country.

He recalled with profound respect Malek's memories, honesty and patriotism and contributions as a freedom fighter.

His death is an irreparable loss to the nation in true sense of the term, Prof Arefin said.

He prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Dr S A Malek died of a massive heart attack at a hospital in the city on Tuesday night at the age of 88.
