5,200 farmers to get agri-incentives in Bhurungamari upazila

RANGPUR, Nov 15, 2022 (BSS) - The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE)
launched distribution of special agriculture incentives among 5,200 small and
marginal farmers of 10 unions of Bhurungamari upazila in Kurigram district on
Monday.
 
Bhurungamari Upazila Agriculture Office arranged a function at the upazila
parishad auditorium to launch distribution of the incentives in terms of
seeds and fertilisers to farmers and assist them in cultivating winter crops
during this Rabi season.
 
Bhurungamari Upazila Chairman Nurunnabi Chowdhury Khokan inaugurated
distribution of the incentives among beneficiary farmers as the chief guest
with Upazila Agriculture Officer Shah Md Apel Mahmud in the chair.
 
Bhurungamari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Dipak Kumar Deb Sharma attended the
function as special guest.
 
Upazila level government officials, chairmen of the union parishads, sub-
assistant agriculture officers and beneficiary farmers from all 10 unions of
the upazila were present.
 
Under the special agri-incentives distribution program, 1,700 small and
marginal farmers of all 10 upazilas of the upazila will get 20-kg of wheat
seeds each, 2,435 farmers will get one-kg of
mustard seeds each, 530 farmers will get two-kg of maize seeds each and 80
farmers will get 10-kg of mustard seeds each.

Besides, 50 farmers will get one-kg of sunflower seeds each, 25 farmers will
get one-kg of onion seeds each, 80 farmers will get 10-kg of groundnut seeds
each and Khesari, mung-bean and lentil seeds will be distributed among 350
farmers of the upazila.
 
In addition to this, each of the beneficiary 5,200 farmers of the upazila
will receive 10-kg of Muriate of Potash and 10-kg of Di-ammonium Phosphate
fertilisers free of cost to cultivate different winter crops during the
current Rabi season.
 
The chief guest urged farmers to make best use of the incentives and
cultivate different crops alongside bringing every inch of fallow land and
homestead under crop farming to enhance production and ensure food security
amid the current global crises.
