SAVAR, Nov 11, 2022 (BSS) - A day-long Bio-tech Olympiad was held on Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus today amid joy and festivities.

Biotech Club of JU Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering department jointly organised the olympiad with the slogan 'Jibon Dharay Notun Beg Sombriddhir Jonno Biotech.'

Vice-Chancellor of Sylhet Agricultural University Prof Mehedi Hasan Khan inaugurated the day-long program at JU School and College.

Later, a special science discussion session took place after lunch break for the invited guests.

Dr Hasina Khan, UGC professor and Independence Awardee fellow of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, delivered a speech on her research life.

Pro Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Sheikh Monzurul Haq addressed the function as the chief guest.

He said, "I hope that the initiative taken by the Biotech club encourages the students to be acquainted with the biotech arena and also try to generate new ideas."

Chairman of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering department and chief adviser of Biotech Club said, "We are very happy to arrange the olympiad. This type of arrangement will help to make the biotech sector more prosperous and increase awareness as well as increase among students about biotechnology."

Club secretary Raihan Manir said around 1,200 students participated in the olympiads from various schools, colleges and universities across the country.
