Two put on remand over forgery in city 

DHAKA, Nov 9, 2022 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today placed two accused on a two-day remand in a case lodged over fraudulence acts made by using the name of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's sister Sheikh Rehana.

The accused were Tawhid Islam (Hindu name- Shri Haridas Chandra Tarnidas) and Imran Hasan Mehedi.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor passed the order as the investigative officer of the case produced the duo before the court and pleaded to place them on a seven-day remand. 

On behalf of the accused, their lawyers applied for bail seeking cancellation of remand. However, Judge Asaduzzaman Noor denied their bail-plea after hearing both the parties.

According to case source, the accused Imran applied to the Directorate General of Health Services on August 1 for his transfer from Magura district to Mymensingh without the permission of the proper authorities.

Later, he gave the receipt copy to another accused Tawhid. Later, both the accused started lobbying by calling anonymously from different places on this matter. 

On October 31, they recommended the issue by forging Sheikh Rehana's seal and signature. As the matter made the authorities suspicious, theye reported it to the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-3.

In continuation of that, members of RAB conducted a raid and arrested them from in front of Rupali Bank in city's Mohakhali area on Tuesday morning.

The law enforcers seized fake visiting card and seal with the writing of Sheikh Rehana and mobile phone.

Medical Officer of the Directorate General of Health Services Dr Md Lutfar Rahman Shaheen filed a case with Banani police station in this regard.
