ADELAIDE, Nov 1, 2022 (BSS)-Bangladesh are keen to use their limited
resources smartly when they take on India in their fourth game of the T20
World Cup tomorrow (Wednesday) at the Adelaide Oval in a bid to stay alive in
the semifinal race.

The day-night match starts at 2 pm as per Bangladesh time and will be aired
live by Gazi TV and T Sports Channel.

A defeat in the match will mathematically eliminate Bangladesh from the
semifinal race, which they target after fulfilling their initial goal by
winning two matches. The magnitude of the two victories in a single T20 World
Cup is huge, considering the fact that Bangladesh never won a match in the
second round of the tournament since their victory against West Indies in the
inaugural edition in 2007.

They firstly ended their win draught in this World Cup, beating Netherlands
by 9 runs and then saw the other side of the coin by tasting a 104-run defeat
to South Africa, which is their biggest ever T20 defeat in terms of runs.

However they bounced back nicely and held the nerve in a nerve-wrecking
moment to beat familiar foes Zimbabwe by 3 runs in the last match.

The slender margin defeat after thrilling contest will give the side a mental
edge, so as the venue in which they beat England in 2015 ODI World Cup, said
Captain Shakib Al Hasan.

"When you won some nerve-wrecking contests, it will always give you the
mental edge, so we feel good. Even though India are a big team, we can pull
off a victory if play our best cricket as a team," Shakib said here today.

"Me and Taskin are the only two players from our squad to play the 2015 World
Cup at this venue. We have a good memory to beat England here. It's a good
memory. Obviously it will help us."

The two teams played 11 matches with India leading the contest by 10-1 and
India won all three of the matches between the two teams in the T20 World
Cup. However the last match of the World Cup in 2016 between the two teams
was eventful one with Bangladesh losing the game by just 1 run in Bengaluru
after playing a foolish cricket at the end.

Senior two batters-Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad's knack for glory
shot when the match was in Bangladesh's hand cost the game eventually.

However after that Bangladesh won their first match against India at India's
soil indeed in 2019 but most of the time the Tigers were no match of India.

And therefore Shakib Al Hasan tried to be as practical as he can be, saying
that the win against India would basically be upset.

"India is the favourite team, they came here to win the World Cup. We are not
favourites, we didn't come here to win the World Cup," Shakib said.

"We know it very well that if we win against India, it will be called an
upset. We will try to play our best cricket, and try to make an upset," the
world's number one all-rounder added.

But India's head coach Rahul Dravid showed utmost respect to Bangladesh,
stating that in a T20 game, there is nothing like favourite.

"We have utmost respect for Bangladesh. They are a good team. In a shorter
version game, no one is favourite. The one who will play well on the match
day, will be winner one," Dravid, also one of the legends of the game said.

"So there is no chance that we will take any team lightly, be it South
Africa, Zimbabwe or Bangladesh. We have to play our best cricket to come out
as winner."

Overall Bangladesh played 142 T20 Internationals and while they won 49
matches, they had lost 90 matches. Three other matches ended in no result. So
a victory against India would help them complete a half-century of T20
victory.
