SHARIATPUR, Oct 23, 2022 (BSS) - Three people were killed and
two others injured as a passenger launch collided with a bridge in the Kuchaipur union area under Gosairhat upazila here early today.
 
The deceased were identified as Tanji Molla, 23, Shakil Ahmed, 25 and Sagar Ali, 23.
 
Quoting locals, police said an iron tank attached to the launch fell on the victims while they were asleep after the vessel collided with the bridge at around 4:30 am, leaving two people dead on the spot and three injured.
 
The injured were taken to Gosairhat upazila health complex where the duty doctors pronounced one dead.
 
Later, police seized the vessel along with two workers.
 
Gosairghat UNO Kafi bin Kabir told BSS that immediately after the accident, the site was inspected and necessary monetary assistance were provided to the injured.
 
The district administration also provided Tk 25,000 to each deceased's family for interment.
