Ensuring quality education to achieve SDGs underscored

GAIBANDHA, OCT 19, 2022 (BSS) - Speakers at a function today underscored the need for ensuring quality education in primary, secondary and higher education levels to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs) by 2030.

“It is not possible to build a happy, prosperous and developed nation without the development of education by ensuring quality education. Only action-oriented and quality education can reach the nation towards the desired goal, they said while addressing a daylong workshop on local level planning of SDG4 at the conference room of the deputy commissioner (DC) here.

United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE) jointly organized the workshop in association with Sinnomul Mohila Samity(SMS) where its executive director Murshidur Rahman Khan presided over the workshop.

ADC-General formally inaugurated the workshop in the morning as chief guest on behalf of DC Oliur Rahman. Then, a presentation on the theme was tabled by Dr. Mohammad Zia-Us-Zaman, consultant of the UNESCO.

Former secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Shyamal Kanti Ghosh, Deputy Director of CAMPE Md Enamul Haque and Programme Officer of the UNESCO Shahina Akhter addressed the meeting as resource persons while assistant director of SMS Masudunnabi Milon was the moderator.  

Earlier, Deputy Director of Primary education, Rangpur division, Muhammad Mujahidul Islam spoke at the workshop as a guest of honor.

The speakers emphasized for achieving SDGs by 2030 through fulfilling all goals including ensuring quality education for all.

A good number of participants including teachers, students, SMC members, education officials, social workers and media men took part in the workshop.
