DHAKA, Sept 18, 2022 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today placed former chairman of Fareast Islami Life Insurance Co Ltd Md Nazrul Islam on four-day fresh remand in a case lodged for embezzling depositors' money.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahidul Islam passed the order as police produced Nazrul before the court after end of his one-day remand in the case and pleaded to place him on 12-day fresh remand.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rashidul Alam on September 16 placed Nazrul on one-day remand in the case.

Earlier on September 13, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Ahammed had placed Nazrul Islam on two-day remand. The court on that day had also allowed police to interrogate former director of the company MA Khalek and his son Rubaiyat Khalek at jail gate for two days, in the case.

The case was filed with Shahbagh Police Station earlier this month for allegedly embezzling more than Taka 800 crore of the depositors'.
