Hasan mourns death of JS deputy leader Sajeda Chowdhury

DHAKA, Sept 12, 2022 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan
Mahmud today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Jatiya
Sangsad deputy leader, Awami League presidium member and veteran Freedom
Fighter Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury.

In a message of condolence, the minister said the country has lost a
politician who was dedicated to Awami League her whole life. She had played a
pivotal role in keeping the party organized during its crisis period after
the brutal assassination of Bangabandhu along with most of his family members
on August 15 in 1975, he added.

He said Sajeda became the AL's acting general secretary in 1976 and she was
the party's full general secretary from 1986 to 1992. Earlier, she was the
general secretary of Mohila Awami League from 1969 to 1975, he continued.

He said Sajeda was elected parliament member from Faridpur-2 constituency for
several times.

Hasan, also AL joint general secretary, prayed for eternal peace of the
departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Sajeda passed away at a city hospital last night at the age of 87.
