GOPALGANJ, Sept 8, 2022 (BSS)- Two people were killed and 10 others injured when a bus hit an excavator on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Dumdia area in Sadar upazila of the district on Wednesday night.

One of the deceased was identified as driver of a bus of Diganta Paribahan Bachhcu Molla, 61, son of Abbas Ali, resident of Khulna district and identity of another deceased could not be known immediately.

The accident occurred when the Dhaka-bound bus from Bagehat of Diganta Paribahan reached the Dumdia area on the highway and collided with the excavator standing on the road around 10.30pm, leaving two people including its driver dead on the spot and 10 others were injured, said Abu Naim Md Tofazzal Haque, inspector of Bhatiapara highway police station of Kashiani upazila of the district.

The 10 injured were taken to Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital.

The body of the bus driver was handed over to the relatives of the victim this morning, he added.
