DHAKA, Sept 6, 2022 (BSS) - The 11th death anniversary of Sayem-ur Rahman Sayem, the only son of Awami League (AL) Presidium Member Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, was observed today through various programmes.

Marking the anniversary, the deceased's family members visited the Banani graveyard in the capital after Asr prayers and placed a floral wreath at the grave of Sayem.

Later, a special prayer was offered at Banani graveyard mosque while doa-mahfil was also held at different mosques at Mohammadpur's Adabor and Shere Bangla Nagar areas in the city after Asr prayers, said a press release.

On the occasion of Sayem's death anniversary, a Milad-Mahfil was organized at Suchona Community Center in city's Mohammadpur area after Asr prayers.

Awami League General Secretary and Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Presidium members Mofazzel Hossain Chowdhury Maya Bir Bikram and Abdur Rahman, Joint General Secretaries Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif and Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Planning Minister Abdul Mannan, Deputy Speaker Shamsul Huq Tuku, Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam,

 Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem, Awami League organizing secretaries BM Mozammel Haque, Mirza Azam and Afzal Hossain, Central Committee members Sahabuddin Faraji, Iqbal Hossain Apu, Dhaka North City unit of AL President Bazlur Rahman, Dhaka South City unit of AL General Secretary Humayun Kabir,

Awami Jubo League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash and Bangladesh Awami Swechasebak League Acting President Mesbaul Hossain Shachchu attended the milad-mahfil, among others.

Sayem Memorial Foundation arranged Doa, Milad-Mahfil and Khatam-e-Quran at different mosques of the country, the release added.

Sayem died in a road accident on September 6 in 2011 in Cox's Bazar.
