DHAKA, Aug 28, 2022 (BSS) - The government has slashed duty on rice import to reduce the rice price in the local market.

Regulatory duty on rice has been reduced to 5 percent from 25 percent, National Board of Revenue (NBR) said in a notification today.

"Different varieties of rice except aromatic one will be allowed to import under this new arrangement with prior approval from the food ministry," said the NBR notification.
