Trial of 11 Jamaat-Shibir activists in explosive case begins

DHAKA, Aug 28, 2022 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today framed charges against 11
leaders-activists of Jamaat-Shibir in a case filed under Explosive Substances
Act.

Dhaka's 6th Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeenat Sultana framed the
charges against them and the court also fixed November 27 for testifying
witnesses.

The accused of the case are: Abdul Barek Mridha, Rashid Sarkar alias Motaleb
Maulana, Khalek Member, Hafez Md Omar Faruq, Habibur Rahman, Abu Saeed,
Habibur Rahman-2, Abul Hossain Munshi, Abdul Latif Tarafdar and Abdul Rahman.

Besides, some 25 people have been acquitted from this case.

According to court sources, some Jamaat-Shibir leaders and activists planned
to create sabotage near Ashulia Abbasia Mosque in support of the hartal and
threw cocktails at the police car on October 11 in 2017.

Ashulia Police Station Sub-Inspector Moshiur Rahman Nayan filed a case in
this regard on October 12.

On November 23, 2018, Ashulia Police Inspector Mohammad Ziaul Islam accused
36 people and filed a charge sheet before the court.
