Bangladesh is a shining example of secularism: Indira

DHAKA, Aug 19, 2022 (BSS) - State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira today said Bangladesh is a shining example of secularism.

"Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman established a non-communal Bangladesh by liberating the country through a long movement and struggle," she said.

She said this while speaking as chief guest at a programme on the occasion of Sri Krishna's Janmashtami Mohotsav organized by Sri Sri Janmashtami Celebration Parishad Bangladesh on the premises of JM Sen Hall in Chittagong, said a press release.

"Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came to power and empowered women by creating a non-communal Bangladesh and established Bangladesh as a shining example of secularism," she said.

In the month of August in 1975, the anti-independence activists killed Bangabandhu with his family and turned non-communal Bangladesh into a communal country, she added.

"After 75 and in 2001, BNP-Jamaat came to power and started a new practice of communalism through oppression and torture on the Hindu community in this country," said the state minister.

Indira said, "Shri Krishna's ideology and philosophy was to remove injustice, oppression and violence from the society and build bonds of genuine love and harmony among people,"
