SAVAR, July 27, 2022 (BSS)- The authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU)
today have decided to hold the panel election to nominate a three-member
panel for appointing one of them as the next Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the
university.

JU registrar Rahima Kaneez confirmed it today.

The election will be held in a special senate session on August 12 following
the section 11(1) of Jahangirnagar University Act-1973, she said.

VC of the university Professor Nurul Alam said, "VC panel election is
essential to continue the democratic process of the university as the Vice
Chancellor of the university will be selected in this democratic way."

"I've directed to hold the election from the education ministry. Senators
will elect three persons for the Vice-Chancellor post in the special Senate
session. The list will be sent to the chancellor. Then chancellor will select
the new VC of the university among the trio," he added.
