National budget stresses to revitalize post COVID-19 economy : lawmakers 

DHAKA, June 29, 2022 (BSS) – Lawmakers today said the proposed budget has stressed on agriculture,rural development, education and export aiming to recover the economy dilapidated by the pandemic. 

Taking part in the general discussion on the proposed budget in the Jatiya Sangsad, the lawmakers said the national budget has given stress on inflation, agriculture, education, export, employment generation and rural development to recover post-pandemic economy. 

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on June 9 in the Jatiya Sangsad unveiled a Taka 6,78,064 crore national budget for 2022-23 fiscal setting the GDP growth target at 7.5 percent amid the economic fallout due to the novel corona virus pandemic coupled with ongoing Ukraine-Russia war. 

After widespread infection of COVID-19, Deputy Minister of Water Resources Enamul Huq Shamim told that the proposed budget  has given importance on inflation, agriculture, employment generation and rural development to strengthen the economy after pandemic. 

State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Enamur Rahman said the proposed budget has earmarked significantly for rural development which would help to strengthen the economy. 

Participating in the discussion, opposition leader Begum Rawshan Ershad said the country is now being progressed under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Treasury bench members, State Minister for Cultural Affairs K.M Khalid of Mymensingh-5, Chief Whip Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury of Madaripur-1 and Md. Joaherul Islam of Tangail-8, took part in the discussion. 

Earlier, they paid their rich tribute to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, four national leaders, martyred freedom fighters and also those who made their utmost sacrifices during the War of Liberation and all subsequent democratic movements in the country.
