DHAKA, June 21, 2022 (BSS) – Lawmakers today said the proposed budget has provided a roadmap of the development and portrays how to face the global economic challenges.
 
Taking part in the general discussion on the proposed budget for 2022-23 fiscal in the Jatiya Sangsad, the lawmakers said the proposed budget is pro-people and help face global economic challenge despite global crisis.
 
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on June 9 in the JatiyaSangsad unveiled a Taka 6,78,064 crore national budget for 2022-23 fiscal setting the GDP growth target at 7.5 percent amid the economic fallout due to the novel corona virus pandemic coupled with ongoing Ukraine-Russia war.
 
“The proposed budget is a roadmap of the development and has been placed to synchronize continuous development posted for the last thirteen years,” said Colonel (retd) Faruque Khan of Gopalganj-1.
 
Terming the proposed budget as executable, the treasury bench lawmaker said “it is undoubted that the proposed budget will be implemented experiencing with the past record of budget implementation placed in last thirteen years led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The average budget implementation rate in the last thirteen years was more than 90 percent.”
 
So, none should be suspicious regarding the execution of the proposed budget considering the previous track record, Khan added.
 
Participating in budget discussion, Land Minister Saifuzzaman said ‘Bangladesh is now in better situation comparing to Sri Lanka as its 6-7 billion US$ comes from tourism. Even they switched to organic food production and the country became bankrupted due to hit by pandemic.”
But Bangladesh has continuous income flow and it is near about 2.50 billion US$ comes from export sector, he told parliament. Even the country has a reserve of 42 billion US$.
 
The proposed budget is around 12 percent more than the budget placed in the last year  and the proposed budget is peoples welfare oriented, said opposition lawmaker PanirUddin Ahamed of Kurigram-2.
 
“One of the main targets of the proposed budget is to create skilled manpower indispensable for the fourth industrial revolution,” said Ashim Kumar Ukil of Netrokona-3.

Earlier, they paid their cordial tribute to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, four national leaders, martyred freedom fighters and also those who made their utmost sacrifices during the War of Liberation and all subsequent democratic movements in the country.
