Skilled workforces for accelerating development stressed

RANGPUR, June 12, 2022 (BSS) - Officials and experts at a seminar have
stressed on creating more skilled workforces through popularizing technical
and vocational education among young generations to accelerate national
development.

They viewed this at the seminar on 'Needs to increase the industrial-
institute linkage' organized by Rangpur Polytechnic Institute (RPI) at its
conference room in observance of the Technical and Vocational Education Week-
2022 in the city this afternoon.

Earlier, Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa inaugurated observance of
the week by releasing balloons on the RPI campus as the chief guest.

A colorful rally with participation of government and non-government
officials, teachers and students of public and private technical and
vocational educational institutions of the city was brought out from the RPI
premises on the city streets.

Later, Divisional Commissioner Md Abdul Wahhab Bhuiyan attended the seminar
as the chief guest with RPI Principal Engineer Mohammad Faisal Mufti in the
chair.

Deputy Director (Local Government) Zilufa Sultana, Director (Planning and
Development) of the Directorate of Technical Education Engineer Md Akhter Uz
Zaman and its Director (Deputy Secretary) at Rangpur Regional Office
Khandaker Md Nahid Hassan spoke as special guests.

Attached Officer of the Directorate of Technical Education at its Rangpur
Regional Office Md AHM Zakaria Shahid delivered the keynote essay.

He focused on the importance of technical and vocational education and
gaining of appropriate skills, abilities and competencies by young
generations as necessary equipment to adapt to the real work situation and
contribute to the development of society.
 
The speakers said technical and vocational education has become popular among
young students with increasing admission rate as per the government's call to
produce skilled technical workforces, engineers, planners and architects for
building a developed nation.
 
The chief guest narrated the essence of ICT-based science, technical and
vocational education for producing skilled human resources to accelerate
national advancement and make the fourth industrial revolution a success in
the competitive 21st century.
