Sub national youth summit held at RU

RAJSHAHI, May 26, 2022 (BSS) - A sub national youth summit was held at Shabash Bangladesh premises in Rajshahi University (RU) Wednesday with the call for building the youth as nation building workforces.

More than 500 students from Varendra University, North Bengal International University, Rajshahi College, Darush Salam Kamil Madrasha and the host Rajshahi University (RU) joined the summit.

Secretary to the Youth and Sports Ministry Mesbah Uddin addressed the ceremony as chief guest, while RU Vice-chancellor Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar was in the chair. 

Principal of Darus Salam Kamil Madrasha Dr Shahidul Islam and UN Representative Nadim Farhad also spoke.

Secretary Mesbah Uddin urged the youths to be united along with science minded for establishing knowledge based society with the spirit of the Great War of Liberation.

He also called for forging social resistance against the crimes related to drug abuse, terrorism and militancy through community mobilization and that can be the best way of establishing peace and tranquility everywhere in the society. 

The chief guest said the present government has a declaration of zero tolerance against drug-addiction, terrorism and extremism and he urged all quarters to come forward to protect the young generation from the grip of social crimes. 
 
"We have to build a healthy society to achieve sustainable development goals," he said, adding the movement against the crimes should be turned into a social movement with active participation of the youth forces. 

The daylong summit was also marked by panel discussion on digital youth citizens, experiencing sharing, short film exhibition and cultural function.
