Govt taking effective measures to face climate change: speakers

KHULNA, April 16, 2022(BSS) - Speaker at a function here have said the government has taking effective measures to face adverse impact of the climate change in the country.

They said this at the discussion on climate change in Khulna division, arranged by Pally Karmo Sohayak Foundation (PKSF) on Friday afternoon.

Senior Secretary of the Public Administration Ministry K M Ali Azam was present as the chief guest.

The function was arranged with cooperation of Khulna district administration and Nobolok Parishad, a non government organisation.

Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Ismail Hossain, Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner (KMP) Md Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan addressed the meeting as special guests with Khulna Deputy Commissioner Md Moniruzzaman Mia in the chair.

The chief guest said the government has already taken proper steps to face climate change.

He also stressed the need for creating mass awareness about impact of climate change.

He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working to make Bangladesh free from hunger and poverty as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Deputy Managing Director of PKSF Dr Fazle Rabbi Sadek Ahmed presented the keynote paper while noted educationist Professor Anwarul Kadir conducted the meeting.

Dr Rabbi informed that PKSF will implement three projects in Bagerhat, Satkhira and Khulna.

Additional divisional commissioner, deputy commissioners of 10 districts in the division, teachers of Khulna University, government officials from different departments, chairman of Union and Upazila Parishad, journalists, local elites, NGO personnel, among others, were present.
