Tamim, Taijul included in Tigers squad for 2nd Test against SA

DHAKA, April 8, 2022 (BSS)- Bangladesh included opener Tamim Iqbal and left-
arm spinner Taijul Islam in their squad for the second and final Test against
South Africa (SA) who opted to bat first after winning the toss at Port
Elizabeth today.

Tamim who played his last Test in May last year against Sri Lanka missed the
first match against South Africa due to a stomach upset. He, however, came
into squad, replacing Shadman Islam, who has been going through a bad patch
of late.

Taijul also played his last Test in the last year against Pakistan but was
brought up in to the side in the place of fast bowler Taskin Ahmed who was
ruled out due to shoulder injury.

Bangladesh lost the first Test by 220 runs and a defeat in the second Test
would give them another experience of being whitewashed here.

South Africa won the first Test despite missing seven first choice players
who opted IPL. The Proteas, however, had no reason to bring any changes to
the squad.
