DHAKA, April 3, 2022 (BSS) - A court here today placed five accused on five-day remand each in a case filled over the murders of Awami League leader Zahidul Islam Tipu and college girl Samia Afran Preeti at North Shahjahanpur area on March 24.

Five accused-- Mohammad Omar Faruque, Nasir Uddin alias killer Nasir, Saleh Shikder alias shooter Saleh, Morshedul Alam alias Kailla Palash and Arfan Ullah Daman - were produced before the court today.

Investigation Officer (IO) of the case police inspector Mohammad Yasin Sikder submitted an appeal to the court to place each of them on 10-day remand in the murder case. 

After hearing both the sides, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mostafa Reza Noor passed the five-day remand order.

Earlier, police produced another accused Md Masum alias Akash before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate on Monday. The IO submitted an appeal to the court to place him on a 15-day remand.

After holding hearing on the case, Dhaka's Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzel Hossain passed the seven-day remand order.

On March 26, members of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Masum from Bogura.
