Begum Rokeya University celebrates historic March 7

   RANGPUR, Mar 7, 2022 (BSS) - Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) today
celebrated the historic March 7 with various programs paying rich tribute to
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

   The celebrations began with placing of wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu
on the campus by Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Hasibur Rashid and Pro Vice-
chancellor Professor Dr Sarifa Salowa Dina in the morning.

   Proctor of the University Md Golam Rabbani, Registrar Engineer Mohammad
Alamgir Chowdhury, Director of Planning and Development Division Md Osman
Gani Talukder, President of the Begum Rokeya University Teachers Association
and convener of the historic March 7 Celebration Committee Md Shariful Islam,
Deans of all faculties, Heads of all departments, leaders of Teachers
Association and Officers Association were present.

   Teachers, students and officials of various departments, residential
halls, staff-employees, various associations and social and cultural
organizations also placed wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu in celebrations
of the historic March 7.

   The Vice-chancellor addressed a virtual discussion organized on the
occasion from his office room in the administrative building of the
university as the chief guest.

   Convener of the historic March 7 Celebration Committee of BRUR Md Shariful
Islam presided over the virtual discussion.

   Associate Professor of the Department of Bengali of BRUR Professor Dr
Nitai Kumar Ghosh presented the keynote essay in the discussion narrating the
enormous importance of the historic March 7 speech of Bangabandhu.

   Speaking at the discussion, Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Hasibur Rashid
said the historic March 7 of Bangabandhu in 1971 was a source of inspiration
for the freedom loving people of the country and the whole world as well.

   "The historic speech that created a new history also conveyed the highest
sense of patriotism and the clear direction of the War of Liberation in
achieving specific goals and ultimate national independence," he said.

   In her speech as a special guest, Pro Vice-chancellor Professor Sarifa
Salowa Dina said Bangabandhu's speech on March 7 is a source of inspiration
for the young generation.

   "This enchanting historic speech of Bangabandhu empowers the new
generation to move forward on the way to build a happy and prosperous Sonar
Bangla as dreamt by Bangabandhu," she added.

   Moderated by Assistant Professor of the Department of Accounting and
Information Systems, Md Ashanuzzaman, teachers, students, officials and
employees of different departments of the university participated in the
discussion virtually.
