'No alternative to quality education for overall development'

 RANGPUR, March 6, 2022 (BSS) - Secretary of the Ministry of Education Md

Abu Bakar Siddique has said there is no alternative to quality and practical
education for attaining overall development of the country.

     "It will be easy for the country to achieve the desired progress if it
can build a knowledge-based society through the spread of effective and up-
to-date education," he said.

     The education secretary said this while inaugurating the newly
constructed examination hall of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) on
its campus in the city today.

     He expressed satisfaction over the steps taken by Vice-chancellor of
BRUR Professor Dr. Md. Hasibur Rashid to get rid of the session jams in the
shortest time in the university.

     The education secretary also lauded the BRUR authorities for conducting
online classes and examinations during the Covid-19 pandemic holidays.

     "I hope that such vibrant educational activities in the university will
continue in the days to come," he said.

     He mentioned that the government would continue its support for all
developmental activities for the smooth running of the academic and
administrative activities of the university.

     Vice-chancellor of BRUR Professor Dr. Md. Hasibur Rashid, its Pro Vice-
chancellor Professor Dr. Sarifa Salwa Dina, Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib
Ahsan and Proctor of the University, Student Adviser, Deans of different
faculties and Directors of different departments, teachers-students and
officials-staff were present on the occasion.

     During his visit to the university, the education secretary paid homage
to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths
at the mural of Bangabandhu on the campus.

     He also visited the under construction buildings of Sheikh Hasina Female
Students' Hall, Dr. Wazed Research and Training Institute and the
Independence Monument on the campus.

     Later, the education secretary exchanged views at the conference room of
the administrative building with the planning and development stakeholders of
the university on the works to be done in infrastructure development.

     On the occasion, the Vice-chancellor presented various development
action plans for the education system and physical infrastructure of the
university.
