Identities of two fire victims in Ashulia shoe factory ascertained

  SAVAR, Feb 24, 2022 (BSS) - The identities of two female workers out of

three killed in a shoe factory fire at Ashulia on the outskirts of the city
have so far been confirmed.

  The two deceased were identified as Sumaya, 12, daughter of Imarat Hossen
from Tangail and Shahanara Begum, 45, wife of Abdul Hamid hailed from Khulna.

  Savar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mazharul Islam however said the
deceased's family members will get Taka 25,000 each for burial the dead
bodies after confirming their identities.

  The local public representatives have been asked to submit update reports
on the fire fighting measures taken by each of the factories in their
respective areas, he said.

   "Two female workers died of suffocation inside the toilet and the other
male worker was severely burnt to death during the shoe factory fire
incident," said Deputy Assistant Director Abdul Alim of fire service
department of Dhaka-4.

  The official said the identity of the burnt worker so far has not been
confirmed.

  Of the three fire victims, two bodies have been sent to the capital for
autopsy, said Ziaul Islam, Officer in Charge (OC) of Ashulia Police Station.

   The devastating fire took place at Uni World Wear Limited at Gauripur in
Ashulia on Wednesday afternoon.

   The cause of the fire was yet to be confirmed.
