Covid-19 recovery rate reaches 94.35pc in Rangpur

   RANGPUR, Feb 23, 2022 (BSS) - The average recovery rate of Covid-19

patients has reached 94.35 percent in Rangpur division where the pandemic
situation is consistently improving during the last one week.

   Health officials said the number of Covid-19 positive cases decreases
while the number of healed patients increases everyday as the spread of the
lethal virus is becoming weaker across the division.

   "Some 354 more patients recovered during the last 24 hours ending at 8 am
today raising the number of healed patients to 60,328 at the 94.35 percent
recovery rate," Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul Islam told
BSS today.

   The 60,328 recovered patients include 14,033 of Rangpur, 4,224 Panchagarh,
4,674 of Nilphamari, 3,011 of Lalmonirhat, 4,680 of Kurigram, 8,164 of
Thakurgaon, 16,157 of Dinajpur and 5,385 of Gaibandha districts in the
division.

   Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 63,938 as 35 new patients
were diagnosed after testing 339 new samples at the 10.32 percent positivity
rate on Tuesday in the division where the positivity rate also continues
declining in recent days.

   "Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 7.22 percent on Monday,
12.30 percent on Sunday, 14.57 percent on Saturday, 10.82 percent on Friday,
19.74 percent on Thursday and 18.58 percent on Wednesday last in the
division," Dr. Islam said.

   The district-wise break up of total 63,938 patients include 14,902 of
Rangpur, 4,394 Panchagarh, 5,464 of Nilphamari, 3,270 of Lalmonirhat, 4,970
of Kurigram, 8,565 of Thakurgaon, 16,885 of Dinajpur and 5,488 of Gaibandha
in the division.

   Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, a total of 3,35,159
collected samples were tested till Tuesday, and of them, 60,328 were found
positive with an average positivity rate of 19.08 percent in the division.

   On the other hand, the total number of casualties remained steady at 1,277
in the division as no new death was reported during the last 24 hours ending
at 8 am today.

   The district-wise break up of the 1,277 fatalities stands at 296 in
Rangpur, 84 in Panchagarh, 92 in Nilphamari, 72 in Lalmonirhat, 69 in
Kurigram, 259 in Thakurgaon, 339 in Dinajpur and 65 in Gaibandha districts of
the division.
   The average casualty rate currently stands at two percent in the division.

   Among total 63,938 Covid-19 patients, 76 are undergoing treatments at
isolation units, including nine patients at ICU and eight at High Dependency
Unit beds, after recovery of 60,328 patients and 1,277 deaths while 2,257 are
remaining in home isolation.

   "Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19
vaccine rose to 1,14,21,014 and among them, 79,91,851 got the second dose and
3,22,467 got the booster dose of the jabs till Tuesday in the division," Dr
Islam added.

   Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. Bimal Chandra Roy urged
everyone to sincerely abide by the health directives to remain safe despite
the pandemic situation improving in the division in recent days.
