Covid-19 situation improving in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Feb 21, 2022 (BSS) - The Covid-19 situation continues improving as the number of fresh positive cases and positivity rate are declining amid rising recovery rate in recent days.

  Health officials said 62 fresh Covid-19 cases were diagnosed after testing 504 samples at the 12.30 percent positivity rate on Sunday in the division.

   Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 14.57 percent on Saturday, 10.82 percent on Friday, 19.74 percent on Thursday, 18.58 percent on Wednesday, 22.12 percent on Tuesday and 22.48 percent on Monday last in the division.

   "With the diagnosis of 62 fresh Covid-19 cases, the total number of infected patients has reached 63,875 in Rangpur division," Dr. Islam said.

  The district-wise break up of total 63,875 patients include 14,888 in Rangpur, 4,388 in Panchagarh, 5,458 in Nilphamari, 3,264 in Lalmonirhat, 4,966 in Kurigram, 8,560 in Thakurgaon, 16,877 in Dinajpur and 5,474 in Gaibandha in the division.

  Meanwhile, no more Covid-19 related fatalities were reported during the last 24 hours ending at 8 am today from anywhere in the division.

   "The total number of casualties remains steady at 1,276 in the division," Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul Islam Lenin told the national news agency today.

   The district-wise breakup of the 1,276 fatalities stands at 296 in Rangpur, 84 in Panchagarh, 92 in Nilphamari, 72 in Lalmonirhat, 69 in Kurigram, 258 in Thakurgaon, 340 in Dinajpur and 65 in Gaibandha of the division.

   The average casualty rate stands at two percent in the division.

 

   Since the outbreak of the pandemic, a total of 3,34,391 collected samples were tested till Sunday, and of them, 63,875 were found Covid-19 positive with an average positivity rate of 19.10 percent.

  At the same time, the total number of healed Covid-19 patients reached 59,821 in Rangpur division with the recovery of 405 more patients on Sunday.

   The average recovery rate presently stands at 93.65 percent.

      Among the total 63,875 patients, 85 are under treatments at isolation units, including 12 critical patients at ICU beds and six at High Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 59,821 patients and 1,276 deaths while 2,693 are remaining in home isolation.

   "Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine rose to 1,13,44,837 and among them, 78,27,430 got the second dose and 3,10,047 got the booster dose till Sunday in the division," Dr Islam added.

   Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. Bimal Chandra Roy said the Covid-19 pandemic situation continues improving as the community spread of the deadly virus is becoming weaker consistently during the last one week.

   However, he called upon everyone to abide by the health directives and wear masks while remaining outside to gradually reduce the community spread of the lethal virus to the zero level.
