RAB to ensure security of all Shaheed Minars: DG RAB

DHAKA, Feb 20, 2022 (BSS)- The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will ensure full proof security of all Shaheed Minars including the central one on the occasion of tomorrow’s International Mother Language Day.

Director General (DG) of RAB Forces Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun told this after inspecting security arrangements at the Central Shaheed Minar at 11am today.

“There was no specific threat; however, the RAB is ready to deal with any situation. Maximum surveillance will be on the social media,” he said.

“We will come to the Shaheed Minar following the health guidelines, we have taken security measures to ensure security of all Shaheed Minars across the country,” the DG added.
He said the RAB members in both plain clothed and uniforms will be engaged at all Shaheed Minars and the International Mother Language Day (February 21) for ensuring security across the country.

“We have swept the Central Shaheed Minar area with dog squad. Bomb squad will also be deployed. Helicopters will also be ready for security purpose,” the DG confirmed.

Special arrangements will be ensured for safety of women and children who will come to pay their respects at the Shaheed Minars, he said adding that the RAB will be vigilant so that the women will not face any hazard including eve-teasing.

Strict monitoring system is being taken to prevent spread of propaganda, rumours and provocations on virtual platform. Separate expert cyber monitoring teams have been engaged in monitoring all the time, Mamun said.

He added that in addition, each battalion of the RAB is conducting cyber monitoring system along with strengthening security in their respective areas in coordination with other law enforcement agencies.

Replying to a question about vandalism at Shaheed Minar on 21st February, he said there is no fear about it, adding, “There is no specific threat. However, RAB is alert and active in providing maximum security since 18th February.”
