466 more Covid-19 patients recover in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, Feb 19, 2022 (BSS) - With the healing of 466 more patients from the Covid-19 on Friday, the total recovery count in the division rose to 1,10,057 since the pandemic began in March, 2020.

A total of 36 more people have tested positive for the deadly virus in the five districts of the division on the day, raising the caseload to 1,18,324 so far.

The new positive cases are showing a significant falling trend compared to the previous day's figure of 154, Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health, said.

The death toll reached 1,741, including 704 in Bogura, 340 in Rajshahi with 219 in its city and 178 in Natore, as one new fatality was reported during the last 24 hours, he said.

Besides, all the positive cases of Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under treatment while 25,816 were kept in isolation units of different dedicated hospitals for institutional quarantine. Of them, 21,960 have been released.

Meanwhile, four more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 193 others were released from isolation during the same period.

Of the 36 new infected cases, 16 were detected in Sirajganj, followed by eight in Joypurhat and four each in Rajshahi city, Chapainawabganj and Bogura districts.

With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 33,804 in Rajshahi including 27,814 in its city, 6,481 in Chapainawabganj, 7,682 in Naogaon, 9,755 in Natore, 5,629 in Joypurhat, 24,862 in Bogura, 13,578 in Sirajganj and 16,533 in Pabna districts.

A total of 1,24,324 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10, 2020 to prevent community transmission of the deadly COVID-19.

Of them, 1,21,116 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their quarantine.
