Four more die of Covid-19, 197 infected in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, Feb 17, 2022 (BSS) - A total of 197 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the division on Wednesday, taking the caseload to 1,18,134 since the pandemic began in March, 2020.
 
The new positive cases are showing a little bit of a rising trend compared to the previous day's figure of 186, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of health.
 
The death toll reached 1,739, including 704 in Bogura, 340 in Rajshahi with 219 in its city and 177 in Natore as four new fatalities were reported during the past 24 hours, Dr Talukder added.

Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 1,08,754 in the division after 881 patients were discharged from the hospitals on the same day.

Besides, all the positive cases of the lethal virus have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 25,771 were kept in isolation units of different dedicated hospitals for institutional quarantine. Of them, 21,766 have been released.

Meanwhile, 108 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 644 others were released from isolation during the same time.

Of the 134 new cases, 71 were detected in Pabna, followed by 44 in Rajshahi, including 41 in its city, 33 in Natore, 25 in Sirajganj, 11 in Bogura, seven in Naogaon and three each in Joypurhat and Chapainawabganj districts.

With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 33,775 in Rajshahi, including 27,787 in city, 6,471 in Chapainawabganj, 7,678 in Naogaon, 9,744 in Natore, 5,618 in Joypurhat, 24,850 in Bogura, 13,540 in Sirajganj and 16,458 in Pabna.

A total of 1,24,233 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10, 2020 to prevent community transmission of the deadly virus.

Of them, 1,20,333 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their quarantine period.
