DHAKA, Feb 16, 2022 (BSS)- Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of legendary singer Gitashree Sandhya Mukhopadhyay and eminent music composer and singer of India Bappi Lahiri. 

In a condolence message, the minister said the death of the two legendary singers are irreparable loss to the music world of the subcontinent.

Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary, prayed for salvation of the departed souls and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members. 

Veteran Bengali singer Sandhya Mukherjee died at a hospital in Kolkata on Tuesday evening while singer-composer Bappi Lahiri, who popularised disco music in Indian cinema, died following multiple health issues this morning.
