RANGPUR, Feb 16, 2022 (BSS) – The authority of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) celebrated the 80th birth anniversary of reknowned nuclear scientist and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's husband Dr. M A Wazed Miah today.

The BRUR authority celebrated the birth anniversary with limited scale programs abiding by the health directives in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic this year like in the previous year.

On behalf of Vice-Chancellor of BRUR Professor Dr. Md. Hashibur Rahsid, Pro Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Sarifa Salowa Dina placed wreaths at the grave of Dr. Wazed at his native village Laldighee Fatehpur in Pirganj upazila of the district to begin celebration of the birth anniversary in the morning.

Besides, Pro Vice-chancellor of BRUR Professor Dr. Sarifa Salowa Dina, leaders of Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Association (BRUTA), Officers’ Association and officials of Dr. Wazed Research Institute of the university placed wreaths there.

After placing wreaths, Professor Dr. Sarifa Salowa Dina, teachers, students and officials of the university offered Fateha and munajats there seeking divine blessings for the departed soul of Dr. Wazed and welfare of his other family members.  

Registrar of BRUR Engineer Mohammad Alamgir Chowdhury, its Director of the Planning and Development Division Md. Osman Gani Talukder, President of BRUTA Md. Shariful Islam, its General Secretary Syed Anwarul Azim, President of Offiocers’ Associuaztion Dr ATG< Golam Feroz and its General Secretary Mohammad Ali, among others, were present.

Later, a milad followed by doa mehfil was arranged at the Central Mosque of the university after Johr prayers when special munajats were offered seeking divine blessings and eternal peace for the departed soul of Dr. Wazed.
