President, PM pay respect to Kazi Aref Ahmed

   DHAKA, Feb 15, 2022 (BSS) - President M Abdul Hamid and Prime

Minister Sheikh Hasina today paid profound respect to the memory of
one of the organizers of Liberation War heroic freedom fighter Kazi
Aref Ahmed marking his 23rd death anniversary.

   Kazi Aref Ahmed was killed by some terrorists when he was attending
an anti-terrorism rally at a playground near Kalidaspur Bazar of
Daulatpur in Kushtia on February 16, 1999.

   In their messages, both the President and the Prime Minister said
Kazi Aref Ahmed struggled throughout his life for implementation of
the spirit of Liberation War and achieving economic emancipation of
the people.

  President M Abdul Hamid said Kazi Aref Ahmed played very active role
in all movements from the historic six-point demand to the country's
Liberation War.

   He was chief of the intelligence agency of BLF or Mujib Bahini, he
said, adding that he was also one of the front-ranking members of the
Committee for Implementation of Liberation War and Elimination of
Killers-Collaborators of 1971.

   In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said heroic freedom
fighter and renowned politician Kazi Aref Ahmed had played very active
role in Liberation War and other different movements in independence
Bangladesh.

   He played strong role as an activist of Chhatra League during the
six-point movement led by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu in 1966,
she added.

  She said Kazi Aref Ahmed had also played strong role against all
autocrats who grabbed power illegally after the killing of Bangabandhu
and most of his family members.

   She hoped that the new generations will engage themselves for the
welfare of the people as well as the country being imbued with the
ideals of Kazi Aref Ahmed.

  Both the President and the Prime Minister prayed for eternal peace
