Two more die of Covid-19, 164 infected in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, Feb 12, 2022 (BSS) - A total of 164 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the division on Friday, taking the caseload to 1,17,089 since the pandemic began in March, 2020.

The new positive cases are showing a falling trend compared to the previous day's figure of 266, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of health.

The death toll reached 1,732, including 703 in Bogura, 335 in Rajshahi with 215 in its city and 177 in Natore as two new fatalities were reported during the past 24 hours, Dr Talukder added.

Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 1,05,358 in the division after 434 patients were discharged from the hospitals on the same day.

Besides, all the positive cases of the lethal virus have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 25,584 were kept in isolation units of different dedicated hospitals for institutional quarantine. Of them, 21,299 have been released.

Meanwhile, 105 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 136 others were released from isolation during the same time.

 Of the 164 new cases, 68 were detected in Pabna, followed by 35 in Sirajganj, 34 in Bogura, 14 in Joypurhat, nine in Rajshahi city and four in Chapainawabganj districts.

With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 33,570 in Rajshahi, including 27,609 in city, 6,400 in Chapainawabganj, 7,633 in Naogaon, 9,584 in Natore, 5,551 in Joypurhat, 24,736 in Bogura, 13,399 in Sirajganj and 16,216 in Pabna.

A total of 1,23,593 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10, 2020 to prevent community transmission of the deadly virus.

Of them, 1,18,679 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their quarantine period.
