CHATTOGRAM, Feb 11, 2022 (BSS) - Awami League (AL) backed Chattagram Sommilito Ainjibi Somonnoy Parishad candidates Advocate Abu Mohammed Hashem and Advocate Abul Hossain Mohammad Ziauddin have been elected president and general secretary (GS) respectively of Chattogram District Bar Association (CDBA).

Chief Election Commissioner Advocate Reazaul Karim Chowdhury declared the poll results of Chattogram District Bar Association (CDBA) last night.

According to election results declared after counting the votes, AL backed Chattagram Sommilito Ainjibi Somonnoy Parishad bagged ten posts including President, General Secretary (GS), Vice President, Finance Secretary, Library Secretary, Information and Technology Secretary and four executive members.

On the other hand, BNP-Jamaat-backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parishad won nine posts – Senior Vice President, Assistant GS, Cultural and Sports Secretary and six executive members.

Two panels - Awami League and pro-liberation forces backed Chattagram Sommilito Ainjibi Somonnoy Parishad and pro-BNP-Jamaat backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parishad contested in the election.

Election commission sources said nearly 4,193 lawyers out of 5,214 cast their votes from 9 am to 4pm without any break on Thursday.

CDBA sources said a total of 39 candidates vied for the posts of 19 office-bearers including 10 executive committee members.
