994 more test positive for Covid-19 with one death in Rajshahi

 RAJSHAHI, Jan 31, 2022 (BSS) - A total of 994 more people have tested

positive for Covid-19 in the division on Sunday, taking the caseload to
1,09,993 since the pandemic began in March, 2020.

  The new positive cases are showing a significant rising trend compared to
the previous day's figure of 891, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional
director of health.

  The death toll reached 1,706, including 693 in Bogura, 329 in Rajshahi with
211 in its city and 175 in Natore as one new fatality was reported during the
past 24 hours, Dr Talukder added.

  Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 98,670 in the division after 382
patients were discharged from the hospitals on the same day.

  Besides, all the positive cases of Covid-19 have, so far, been brought
under necessary treatment while 24,406 were kept in isolation units of
different dedicated hospitals for institutional quarantine. Of them, 20,428
have been released.

  Meanwhile, 497 more people have been sent to home and institutional
quarantine afresh while 291 others were released from isolation during the
same time.

  Of the 994 new cases, 241 were detected in Pabna, followed by 238 in
Rajshahi, including 198 in its city, 231 in Sirajganj, 126 in Bogura, 86 in
Naogaon, 85 in Natore, 47 in Joypurhat and 40 in Chapainawabganj districts.

  With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total
cases now stands at 31,789 in Rajshahi, including 26,091 in its city, 6,011
in Chapainawabganj, 7,221 in Naogaon, 9,006 in Natore, 5,189 in Joypurhat,
23,917 in Bogura, 12,382 in Sirajganj and 14,478 in Pabna.

  A total of 1,20,320 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since
March 10, 2020 to prevent community transmission of the deadly virus.

  Of them, 1,15,700 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance
certificates after completing their quarantine period.
