DHAKA, Jan 24, 2022 (BSS) - State Minister for Local Government, Rural
Development and Cooperatives Swapan Bhattacharjee today said that Bangladesh
Rural Development Board (BRDB) has been playing a vital role in socio-
economic development at the grassroots level.
"Since its inception, the BRDB has been playing a pivotal role in ensuring
socio-economic development of the rural Bangla centering the development
philosophy of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman," he
said.
The state minister made the remarks while addressing a regional workshop
organized by Inclusive Rural Development Project-3 at the CIRDAP auditorium
in the city, said a press release.
Representatives from district offices of the BRDB under Dhaka division and
beneficiaries of the project took part in the workshop.
Noting that the Inclusive Rural Development Project-3 has played a key
role in the improvement of living standard in rural areas across the country,
Swapan said an initiative has already been taken to establish 1,000 product-
based industrial villages in the country.
He urged the field level officials of the BRDB to work with sincerity and
efficiency in building planned villages and creating entrepreneurs.
Rural Development and Co-operatives Division Secretary Md Mashiur Rahman
spoke at the workshop as the special guest with BRDB Director General Supriya
Kumar Kundu in the chair.
