525 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Jan 23, 2022 (BSS) - A total of 525 more people have tested

positive for Covid-19 in all eight districts of the division on Saturday,
taking the caseload to 1,02,778 since the pandemic began in March, 2020.

     The new positive cases are showing a significant rising trend compared
to the previous day's figure of 159, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder,
divisional director of health.

     Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 97,108 in the division after 95
patients were discharged from the hospitals on the same day.

     The death toll remained steady at 1,695, including 688 in Bogura, 327 in
Rajshahi with 209 in its city and 175 in Natore as no new fatality was
reported during the past 24 hours, Dr Talukder added.

     Besides, all the positive cases of Covid-19 have, so far, been brought
under necessary treatment while 23,554 were kept in isolation units of
different dedicated hospitals for institutional quarantine.

     Of them, 20,160 have been released. Meanwhile, 314 more people have been
sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 61 others were
released from isolation during the same time.

     Of the 525 new cases, 149 were detected in Rajshahi, including 133 in
its city, followed by 141 in Bogura, 55 in Pabna, 49 in Naogaon, 49 in
Natore, 37 each in Joypurhat and Sirajganj and 18 in Chapainawabganj
districts.

     With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the
total cases now stands at 29,310 in Rajshahi, including 23,835 in its city,
5,742 in Chapainawabganj, 6,680 in Naogaon, 8,612 in Natore, 4,898 in
Joypurhat, 22,643 in Bogura, 11,661 in Sirajganj and 13,232 in Pabna.

     A total of 1,17,224 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine
since March 10, 2020 to prevent community transmission of the deadly virus.
Of them, 1,14,786 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance
certificates after completing their quarantine period.
