79 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rajshahi

  RAJSHAHI, Jan 16, 2022 (BSS) - Seventy nine more people have tested

positive for Covid-19 in seven districts of the division on Saturday, taking
the caseload to 1,00,506 since the pandemic began in March, 2020.

   The new positive cases are showing an escalating trend compared to the
previous day's figure of 50, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional
director of health.  Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 96,551 in the
division after 40 patients were discharged from the hospitals on the same
day.

   The death toll remained steady at 1,694, including 688 in Bogura, 327 in
Rajshahi with 209 in its city and 175 in Natore as no new fatality was
reported during the past 24 hours, Dr Talukder added.

   Besides, all the positive cases of Covid-19 have, so far, been brought
under necessary treatment while 23,282 were kept in isolation units of
different dedicated hospitals for institutional quarantine. Of them, 20,051
have been released.

   Meanwhile, 139 more people have been sent to home and institutional
quarantine afresh while 29 others were released from isolation during the
same time.

   Of the 79 new cases, 25 were detected in Bogura, followed by 22 in
Rajshahi city, eight in Naogaon, seven each in Natore and Pabna and five each
in Joypurhat and Sirajganj districts.

   With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total
cases now stands at 28,610 in Rajshahi including 23,163 in its city, 5,690 in
Chapainawabganj, 6,501 in Naogaon, 8,507 in Natore, 4,811 in Joypurhat,
21,968 in Bogura, 11,468 in Sirajganj and 12,951 in Pabna.

   A total of 1,15,827 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since
March 10, 2020 to prevent community transmission of the deadly coronavirus
(COVID-19).

   Of them, 1, 14,493 have, by now, been released as they were given
clearance certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
