RAJSHAHI, Jan 13, 2022 (BSS) - Eighty-one more people have tested
positive for Covid-19 in seven districts of the division on Wednesday, taking
the caseload to 1,00,260 since the pandemic began in March, 2020.
The new positive cases are showing an escalating trend compared to the
previous day's figure of 56, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional
director of Health.
Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 96,449 in the division after 24
patients were discharged from the hospitals on the same day.
The death toll remained steady at 1,693, including 688 in Bogura, 327 in
Rajshahi with 209 in its city and 175 in Natore as no new fatality was
reported during the past 24 hours, Dr Talukder added.
Besides, all the positive cases of Covid-19 have, so far, been brought
under necessary treatment while 23,252 were kept in isolation units of
different dedicated hospitals for institutional quarantine. Of them, 20,020
have been released.
Meanwhile, 98 more people have been sent to home and institutional
quarantine afresh while nine others were released from isolation during the
same time.
Of the 81 new cases, 22 were detected in Rajshahi city, followed by 23
in Bogura, 20 in Pabna, six in Natore, five in Naogaon, four in Joypurhat and
one in Sirajganj districts.
With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total
cases now stands at 28,541 in Rajshahi including 23,094 in its city, 5,690 in
Chapainawabganj, 6,490 in Naogaon, 8,494 in Natore, 4,779 in Joypurhat,
21,893 in Bogura, 11,450 in Sirajganj and 12,923 in Pabna.
A total of 1,15,615 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine
since March 10, 2020 to prevent community transmission of the deadly
coronavirus (COVID-19).
Of them, 1, 14,420 have, by now, been released as they were given
clearance certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
