Heroic FF Nurul Islam passes away

 DHAKA, Jan 12, 2022 (BSS) - Heroic Freedom Fighter (FF) Nurul Islam, one
of the key organisers of the Liberation War, died at a London hospital
yesterday at the age of 91.

   Nurul Islam left behind his wife, a son, a daughter, grand children and a
host of relatives to mourn his demise, said a press release.

  In 2012, he obtained a fellowship of Bangla Academy for writing a book
titled 'Probashir Kotha' consisting struggle of Bengali nation living across
the globe.

  While pursuing a barrister degree in London, Nurul played a crucial role in
establishing the 'Nation Federation of Pakistan Association in Great Britain'
in 1963 and the East Pakistan House in 1964, said the release.

  In 1966, he returned from London to meet Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
and other national leaders to speed up international campaign and prepare a
strategy for Bangladesh's Liberation War.

   Later, Pakistan government arrested him confiscating his passport for his
involvement in East Pakistan separation movement, the release added.

  Apart from joining Liberation War in 1971, researcher and writer Nurul
joined the mass upsurge in 1969 and election in 1970.

  In 1972, Bangabandhu established Expatriate Welfare Board entrusting Nurul
Islam with the responsibly of secretary.
