56 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rajshahi

   RAJSHAHI, Jan 12, 2022 (BSS) - Fifty six more people have tested positive

for Covid-19 in the division on Tuesday, taking the caseload to 1,00,179
since the pandemic began in March, 2020.

   The new positive cases are equal to the previous day's figure of 56, said
Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health.

   Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 96,425 in the division after 22
patients were discharged from the hospitals on the same day.

   The death toll remained steady at 1,693, including 688 in Bogura, 327 in
Rajshahi with 209 in its city and 175 in Natore as no new fatality was
reported during the past 24 hours, Dr Talukder added.

   Besides, all the positive cases of Covid-19 have, so far, been brought
under necessary treatment while 23,248 were kept in isolation units of
different dedicated hospitals for institutional quarantine. Of them, 20,012
have been released.

   Meanwhile, 45 more people have been sent to home and institutional
quarantine afresh while 70 others were released from isolation during the
same time.

   Of the 56 new cases, 26 were detected in Rajshahi city, followed by 14 in
Bogura, six in Joypurhat, four in Natore, three in Pabna, two in Naogaon and
one in Sirajganj districts.

   With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total
cases now stands at 28,519 in Rajshahi including 23,074 in its city, 5,690 in
Chapainawabganj, 6,485 in Naogaon, 8,488 in Natore, 4,775 in Joypurhat,
21,870 in Bogura, 11,449 in Sirajganj and 12,903 in Pabna.

   A total of 1,15,517 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since
March 10, 2020 to prevent community transmission of the deadly coronavirus
(COVID-19).

   Of them, 1, 14,411 have, by now, been released as they were given
clearance certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
