RU to construct 10-storey Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Hall

   RAJSHAHI, Jan 2, 2022 (BSS) - Rajshahi University (RU) has started

constructing a ten-storey Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Hall aimed at removing
accommodation crises of its students.

   This will be the first ten-storey students' dormitory, also such a type of
high-rise building, in RU's 68 years history since 1953.

   Rajshahi Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, elder son of the national leader
Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman, inaugurated construction works of the hall adjacent
to Madar Baksha Hall after unfolding foundation stone today as the chief
guest.

   Vice-chancellor Professor Golam Sabbir Sattar and Pro-vice-chancellors
Professor Chowdhury Jakaria and Professor Sultan-Ul-Islam, among others, were
present on the occasion.

   RU will construct the dormitory at a cost of around Taka 70.21 crore as
part of its five-year project titled "Physical Infrastructure Development
Project of Rajshahi University" to create accommodation scopes of 964
students in 482 rooms.

   Besides, there will requisite rooms for 37 house tutors and offices. The
students will enjoy privileges of six modern lifts.

   RU sources said various other high-rise buildings and infrastructure
development works are scheduled to be constructed within the stipulated time
under the project.

   Construction of University's infrastructure will support, enable, and
enhance the work of its faculty, staff, and students and ensure qualitative
improvement of higher education in the fields of education and need-based
research including engineering, technology and agriculture.
