DC urges to continue drives against dishonest shrimp traders in Khulna

KHULNA, Dec 11, 2022 (BSS)-Members of law enforcement agencies have been asked to continue drives against dishonest shrimp traders against mixing of harmful chemical (Jelly) in the export oriented foreign currency earners shrimp.

“Some foreign buyers recently cancelled their shrimp consignment orders after found harmful chemical in the shrimp, so, the law enforcement agencies should takes stern action against the dishonest fish traders,” the newly appointed Deputy Commissioner (DC) Khondokar Yasir Arefin said this while presiding over the monthly law and order meeting at the DC’s conference room here today.

He also urged the authorities concerned to play a vital role for curbing early marriage from the society.

Superintendent of Police (SP), Khulna, Mahbubur Rahman said that the law and order situation in Khulna now is better than the previous time. He also asked the law enforcement agencies to remain alert against any untoward incident ahead of the victory day.

Civil Surgeon (CS) of Khulna Dr Sujat Ahmed said separate committees for preventing Covid-19 and Dengu at district and upazila labels have been working actively to combat it.

Turning first dose of corona virus (Covid-19) inoculation has been completed hundred percent successfully, he said, adding that a total of 57, 33,919 people has taken Covid-19 vaccine. He also informed that a total of 245 dengue patients returned their homes after recovery until yesterday while eight dengue patients were admitted to the hospital.

Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (North) of KMP Md Moshfequr Rahman said drives are ongoing against the drugs traders, criminals. Activities of Beat Policing are continuing in each of the ward of the city, he added.

Deputy Director of Narcotics Department Md Mizanur Rahman said that anti drug taskforce have already conducted 141 drives during last month and recovered huge drugs including yaba tablets, hemp and phensidyle syrup. The Department also filed 129 drug cases accusing 167 people in this connection, he added.

Additional District Magistrate S M Munim Lincon delivered the welcome speech and presented the law and order situation of Khulna.

Among others, deputy director of District Women Affairs Hasna Hena, Freedom Fighter Prof Alamgir Kabir, Khulna Press Club President S M Nazrul Islam, also spoke.

Government officials, UNOs, Upazila chairmen, head of different educational institutions, journalists, among others, attended the meeting.
