BOGURA, Dec 3, 2022 (BSS) - The 31st International Day of Persons with Disabilities and the National Disabled Day-2022 was observed in the district and elsewhere across the country today in a befitting manner through various programmes.

This year the day's theme is 'Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world.'

On the occasion, a rally was brought out from the Bogura Zila School premises this morning and ended at the Bogura Zila Parishad Auditorium after parading main streets of the district town.

After the rally, a discussion meeting, wheel chair distribution and painting competition were held at the Bogura Zila Parishad Auditorium this morning at the initiative of the District Administration and Social Services Department.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Ziaul Haque addressed the function as the chief guest with Deputy Director of the District Social Services Department Abu Saeed Md Kawsar Rahman in the chair.

The chief guest said that disability is not a burden on the society, the persons with disabilities would have to be developed as worthy citizens of the country through providing them with all facilities including healthcare, education and employment.

Zilla Parishad Chairman Dr. Maqbul Hossain, Zila Parishad Chief Executive Officer Ashraful Momin Khan, Additional Superintendent of Police Helena Akhtar, former District Commander of Zila Mukti Jodha Sangsad Ruhul Amin and among others spoke, at the function as the special guests.

Earlier, DC Md. Ziaul Haque handed over the wheel chairs to the 20 disabled people.
