CHATTOGRAM, Nov 7, 2022 (BSS): A mobile court of the district administration in a drive today seized four sand carrying engine boats from Khalifaghona in North Madarsha village under Raozan upazila of Halda River.
The mobile court led by Executive Magistrate and Hathazari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shahidul Alam in cooperation with police, fisheries department and members of the Integrated Development Foundation (IDF) conducted the drive.
The illegal engine boats were seized in a five-hour-long drive beginning at 7 am this morning which were used in catching mother fish defying government ban.
UNO Shahidul Alam said the authority will conduct regular drive by the direction of Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chattogram Mohammad Mominur Rahman to protect the only natural fish breeding ground for carp in Bangladesh, the mother fish of Bangabandhu Fisheries Heritage Halda River, its dolphins and biodiversity.
“Boats without engines are released on bond to the respective owners on the conditions that the engine will not be used with boat in the future,” he added.
