RAJSHAHI, March 26, 2022 (BSS) - Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has

arrested a person for his involvement in extortion through identifying
himself as a police sub-inspector.

RMP sources said the detained person was identified as Zakir Hossain, 53, son
of Arman Ali, hailed from Haludghar village under Naldanga upazila in Natore
district.

Sazid Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of RMP, said the arrested person was
involved in money collection from different persons illegally identifying
himself as a police sub-inspector through using walkie-talkie and mobile
phones for a long time.

Being informed, the cybercrime unit of RMP detected the person through
analyzing data and information of his mobile phones and finally arrested him
from his house last night.

Police also recovered three walkie-talkies, two mobile phones, one charger
and cash money from his possession.

The cybercrime unit has, so far, spotted a number of mobile phones and shim
cards which were used by the arrested person, the police officer added.
